Imago Group, Europe’s largest video communications distributor, will be introducing the Scopia VC240 all-in-one HD video conferencing desktop system to its channel of specialist resellers for under 2.300 €.

The system, which has been jointly developed by Radvision and Samsung combines the Radvision video conferencing engine with a 24” widescreen LCD, HD camera, high fidelity speakers and dual echo cancelling microphones.
“Desktop video conferencing is growing in demand,” says Ian Vickerage, Managing Director of Imago, “but until now all the systems available have been prohibitively expensive. The economies of scale that can be achieved by a joint development between Samsung and Radvision, however, have resulted in a high performance, high quality solution that will cost customers a fraction of what they would otherwise expect to pay.”
The Scopia VC240 can operate as a standalone desktop HD video conferencing device as well as a 24” high resolution monitor. It is also fully interoperable with Radvision’s Scopia line of products, and delivers full HD internally, so it doesn’t impact on the performance of the PC.
“For the reseller, the VC240 offers the ideal solution for customers who want to bring the advantages of video conferencing to the desktop at an affordable price,” continued Ian Vickerage.
Samsung and RADVISION showcased their jointly developed VC240 high definition desktop video conferencing solution at a special launch at Samsung House in Chertsey. The VC240 is a high definition desktop video conferencing device that integrates advanced high definition video conferencing into a high resolution multimedia LCD monitor.
The VC240 is the result of joint design and development between the two companies and leverages each company’s respective best of breed expertise. Samsung is the worldwide market leader in LCD screen technology and in supplying high quality, high value consumer and enterprise products.
RADVISION is the market leader in providing highly interoperable and flexible multimedia and signalling frameworks to the visual communications industry. The VC240 is the first product in the market to integrate all the components required for high definition desktop video conferencing into a single unit at an affordable price. It can operate as a standalone desktop HD video conferencing device as well as a 24 inch high resolution monitor.
The VC240 is being distributed through RADVISION who is currently taking orders and shipping the product. When combined with RADVISION’s market leading video network infrastructure and management software it provides a complete enterprise desktop video solution allowing users to enjoy all the benefits of the high definition video communications experience at a fraction of the cost of existing hardware desktop solutions.
“Working with RADVISION allows Samsung to benefit from their unique mix of expertise in multimedia communications and ensures that our products will have the highest level of interoperability with other products in the market,” said Dominic Webb, General Manager of Samsung’s Display Division. “We also benefit from their many years of experience in marketing advanced video solutions.”
“Working with a world leader like Samsung allows us to release to market a high quality video communication device with best of bread LCD monitor technology at the best price & quality in the market,” said Amir Zmora. VP Marketing, Technology Business Unit of RADVISION. “We look forward to changing the price and quality ratio in the video market with our partner SAMSUNG.”
